Dr. Shelly Boyce
Biographies
Dr. Shelly Boyce
Dr. Boyce studied Veterinary Medicine at The University of the West Indies St. Augustine, School of Veterinary Medicine (Trinidad). She graduated in 2004 and her passion is Small Animal Medicine (veterinary care of dogs and cats).
Sierra Veterinary Clinic was established by Dr. Boyce in 2007 on a part-time basis, which then developed into a full-time, small animal practice in January 2013.
Dr. Boyce truly loves caring for dogs and cats and it is reflected in her commitment to her chosen profession. She says, "It's more than a job, it's my life!" Every pet gets a cuddle when they come to visit at the clinic, even the naughty ones! Most of her clients refer to her simply as Shelly, or Dr. Shelly.
Dr. Jelisa Smith
Dr. Smith graduated in June 2019 from St. George's University (Grenada) after one year at the Royal School of Veterinary Studies in Scotland. She joined our team at Sierra Veterinary Clinic in 2019, and also works at other clinics on island. Dr. Smith enjoys small animal medicine, especially Soft Tissue Surgery, as well as Dermatology. She is passionate about dog behaviour / training, swimming, hiking and horseback riding.
Dr. Samantha Matthews
Dr. Matthews graduated from The University of the West Indies St. Augustine, School of Veterinary Medicine (Trinidad) with honours in 2017. She has practiced both small and large animal medicine, and her greatest interest is Veterinary Radiology. Dr. Matthews joined our team in 2019. Growing up on a farm surrounded by animals has inspired her values as a veterinarian, which include always treating each patient with the utmost respect, care, empathy and devotion.
Dr. Antonio Watson
Dr. Watson graduated from The University of the West Indies St. Augustine, School of Veterinary Medicine (Trinidad) in 2015. He has worked as a Clinical Teaching Assistant at the University of the West Indies, School of Veterinary Medicine after graduation and prior to returning to Barbados to work part-time at Sierra Veterinary Clinic and another vet clinic on the island. Dr. Watson joined our team in 2017 and continues to work with us alongside his own practice in Farm Animal Medicine.
Ms. Dorissa Samuel
Ms. Samuel gained her professional qualificaion in the Veterinary Assistant Program at the Animal Behaviour College in 2016. She joined our team at Sierra Veterinary Clinic in 2017.
