Sierra Veterinary Clinic has a team of dedicated professionals who offer a wide variety of services to cater to your pets needs.

Services

Grooming

We stock medicated shampoos and offer nail trimming. Also, if your pet needs routine medicated baths we can assist you.

Surgery
Surgery is sometimes necessary to get your pets tail wagging again. This is an important component of some treatment protocols. Safe and proven anaesthetic protocols are used to keep the risks minimised.

Hospitalisation

Sometimes our pets are so sick that they need hospitalization. We offer comfortable cages to hospitalize your pets during this time and excellent veterinary care. Dont hesitate to call us if your pet is not feeling well.

Boarding

Pets can stay at the clinic for a vet staycation!

Most common requests for boarding are if families are travelling aborad, construction to the premises at home, or having a party at home with lots of guests

Our staycationers will need to be up to date with booster vaccinations, and have a current flea and tick control product. We recommend Nexgard, Bravecto or Certifect for dogs, and Frontline plus for Cats.

Please make your bookings early. Call us today to make your pets staycation appointment!

Your pet will be comfortable and happy spending a few days with us.

A house-sitting service is also available. Call us today for more details.

House Calls

What's better than a visit to the vet without leaving home? House calls are convenient for some and necessary for others if you do not have transportation to bring your pet to the clinic. We provide this service to anywhere in Barbados by appointment only with same day appointments available sometimes. Having your pet's checkup done within their home environment makes the visit less stressful for both client and pet, and gives us an opportunity to assess the pet's environment for any factors that may be contributing to their ill-health.

Not all cases can be dealt with on a house call however, and it may be necessary to arrange transportation for your pet to be seen at the clinic.

Call us to book your house call appointment or for a quotation.

Wellness Exams

Preventative medicine is one of our greatest tools to keeping your pets happy and healthy. Regular physical examinations allow us to detect illnesses early and implement appropriate treatments. We can help your pet to maintain optimal weight and body condition scoring by performing regular evaluations.

Spay & Neuter

Spaying and neutering your pets makes you a responsible pet owner.

This procedure is performed on an out-patient basis. Pets come into the clinic in the morning and may return home the same evening after the surgery. We also offer overnight hospitalisation after surgery.

Neutering your pet helps to reduce the numbers of unwanted litters of puppies and kittens desperate for a loving home. It also reduces the stress of animals on heat, roaming behavior in males and some reproductive diseases.

Call us to book an appointment to have your pet neutered.

Vaccinations

Puppies and kittens are the most often vaccinated but adult animals need vaccinations too. We vaccinate your pets based on its age and exposure risk to contagious diseases. Our vaccination protocol is tailored to each animal.

Puppies are vaccinated at 6, 10, 14 weeks old (and some breeds at 18 weeks) and 1 year after the last puppy vaccination.

Adult dogs receive booster vaccinations every year.

Kittens are vaccinated at 8 & 12 weeks old and 1 year after the last kitten vaccination. Adult cats receive booster vaccinations every year.

Pet Medications

Sierra Veterinary Clinic offers a pet pharmacy to dispense the medications your pet will need. We also supply shampoos, dewormers, and flea and tick control products over the counter.

Dental Care

Pets need dental care too! As part of the yearly wellness examination, we check your pets teeth and recommend appropriate treatment. Routine cleaning is necessary to prevent tartar buildup and gingivitis. It also helps to reduce the ‘bad breath’ most dogs have from lack of dental care. At Sierra Vet Clinic we use a Piezo Ultrasonic scaler to clean patients' teeth followed by polishing.
